Track heads to Des Moines The UTEP's men's and women's track and field teams, ranked sixth and ninth, respectively, by the U.S Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, will be competing in Des Moines, Iowa for the Drake Relays today. Having both the men's and women's team ranked in the top 10 is a first in school history.
UTEP Men's golf finishes eighth The UTEP men's golf team ended the 2008 season in eighth place at the Conference USA Championship on Tuesday in Texarkana, Ark. The Miners started out in 10th place on Sunday and moved up two spots by Tuesday. UTEP posted rounds of 297, 294 and 294 for a 21-over-par 885.
Golf's Martinez earns All-Conference honors Miner Deborah Martinez was named third team All-Conference USA on April 17. She has also been appointed to the C-USA Women's Golf All-Academic Team. Martinez led the Miners with a 78.7 stroke average this season and played in all 10 tournaments. Martinez took 23rd at the Conference USA Championship, which concluded on Tuesday.
UTEP hosts volleyball spring tournament UTEP's volleyball team ends its spring season Saturday. The tournament is set for 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Competitors will include N.M. Highlands, Western N.M. and N. M. Military Institute.
