DOJ indicts three men in connection with mobster Whitey Bulger’s prison murder

Federal prosecutors have charged three people in connection with the killing of a notorious mobster in prison James “Whitey” Bulger.

Fotios “Freddy” Geas, 55, Paul “Pauly” DeCologero, 48, and Sean McKinnon, 36, were charged Wednesday with conspiracy. First degree murderThe Justice Department said in a statement.

Ghias and Dicologero were charged in October 2018 with beating Bulger, who was jailed. Bruceton Mills, West Virginia.

Bulger was serving a life sentence for 11 murders and other crimes before arriving at Hazelton Prison in Bruceton Mills at the time of his death. He was 89 at the time of his death.

Kias and DeCologero are charged with first-degree murder and aiding and abetting assault resulting in serious bodily injury, the DOJ said. Geass faces a separate charge of murder by a federal inmate serving a life sentence. McKinnon faces another charge of making false statements to a federal agent.

Zias is incarcerated at USP Hazelton. Decologero remains in the federal prison system. McKinnon was released on federal supervision pending the indictment and was arrested Wednesday in Florida.
