Former lawyers President Donald Trump According to a source familiar with the matter, he recently appointed a team to search the four properties for remaining classified material.
The two-man team has also searched Trump Tower, Bedminster Golf Club and two other properties in New York amid lingering concerns from the Justice Department that all documents have not been returned to the federal government.
All four searches in recent weeks were overseen by Trump’s legal team, the source said. Trump’s lawyers offered to allow federal investigators to conduct a search of the Bedminster property, but that offer was rejected. Given the Justice Department’s response, Trump lawyers have not been given a similar opportunity to search other assets.
It is highly unusual for the judiciary to oversee searches not conducted by law enforcement. The department declined to comment.
It’s unclear what the connection between Trump’s legal team and federal investigators was. The source did not describe what they told the Justice Department about the search, but said they did not certify to the Justice Department that no new material was found during the search.

CNN previously reported exclusively Trump’s legal team is considering allowing federal agents to search Mar-a-Lago again to fulfill a justice demand that all key government documents be returned. The matter was brought up in court this fall, where the Justice Department asked a judge to issue an order forcing the Trump team to arrange another search.
